I recently stumbled across this unique way of ensuring hard drives are destroyed.

You might call it ‘labour intensive’,  but at least you get to see the job done onsite and ensure no data leaks.

Perhaps this is a new way for IT Asset Managers to get a good work out and burn a few calories? I imagine the crunch of metal is quite satisfying too!

As the name suggests it is using ‘pure leverage’ to puncture and destroy the critical part of the hard drive. Not bad for $325! More info at purelev.com

“Faster, cheaper, and more fun than any other crusher on the market. Costs a fraction of the others!”

If you prefer gadgets to mechanical devices you may wish to splash out a bit more cash on an onsite crusher. This is the size of a coffee machine and claims to crush 60 hard drives an hour. See www.edreurope.co.uk

The Hard Disk Crusher ensures that your confidential information remains confidential by destroying it permanently. After being crushed by the Hard Disk Crusher, the data can never be recovered again.

There are of course industrial shredders if you really want to have some fun. Some of these beasts can cope with far more than hard drives such as the odd filing cabinet or a 1985 Dodge Daytona.
